The National Tender Board launches the official dissemination of the new Procurement Law at Ambassador Hotel, Hargeisa, 24 October 2018.

 

The PFM coordination Unit of the Minister of Finance Development had supported the National Tender Board (NTB) in organizing the Launching and Dissemination event of the new Procurement Law (Law No 82/2018). The one-day event was held at Ambassador Hotel, Hargeisa, on October 24, 2018.

The event was attended by representatives from the private sector, the civil society, development partners, and members from the House of Representatives, relevant government institutions and the local media.

The objective of the event was to sensitize and familiarize potential contractors in the private sector and other stakeholders about the new procurement law. In his opening remarks, the Minister of Finance, Hon Yousuf Mohamed Abdi highlighted the significance of the new Procurement Law in promoting transparency and accountability in the use and management of public funds to ensure value for money. The minister pointed out that the implementation of the new procurement law would lead to improved professionalism, innovation, and secure fair and competitive price, fostering trust between citizens and the government. He noted that the dissemination event of the new procurement law marks the completion of the PFM laws.
